Be More Chill
Choreography Style / Approach
Influenced by contemporary street styles, stylized robotics, contemporary jazz and ballet, tutting, and character-driven transitions to reflect the show's hyper-digital world and internal anxiety. Video game–inspired movement with sharp isolations, digital glitch effects, and animated group work.

Challenges / Innovations / Notable Moments
- Movement style for when normal versus when squipped. The physicality helped the audience to better understand this part of the story.
- Many songs drew inspiration from a specific 90s video game. (e.g., Upgrade/Pacman, Finale/ Mario Brothers, Two Player Game/ Donkey Kong)
- The video game final boss fight at the end was inspired by 90s video games. During that time, if a player was not being used, they swayed back and forth. We included that sway while actors waited for their “fight” in the fight scene.
- Stage combat, but comically done in the style of OG Mario Brothers!
- Glow in the dark gloves to enhance the tutting down in the Squip Song and Pitiful Children
- Added a stronger dance track for this production, with heavy dancing in BMC, Halloween, and Smartphone Hour (on top of the typical dance-heavy numbers).
